Nova Scotia Talent Trust 75th Anniverasry

February 7 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

The Talent Trust’s 75th anniversary

In 1944 a group of Nova Scotians came together to assist a young woman named Portia White with her voice studies. They didn’t know she’d become a Canadian vocal icon — they simply believed in Portia and her talent. She dedicated herself to her work and made history.

The Nova Scotia Talent Trust knows how important it is to believe in an emerging artist. We know a scholarship provides more than financial assistance. It’s a vote of confidence. Every artist, no matter where they are in their career, knows how much that means.

Every year we grant scholarships and Special Awards to emerging artists in the disciplines of theatre, film/new media, literary arts, dance, music, voice, circus arts, visual arts, and design.

Our Special Awards include the Talent Trust Portia White Award, which is granted to a scholarship recipient who shows exceptional commitment and potential in voice.

We believe in the creativity of Nova Scotian artists. We’re proud and honoured to have played a part in the professional development of more than 1,000 emerging artists across our province for the past 75 years.

We’re also deeply grateful for our supporters and sister organizations in our cultural community. As we mark our 75th anniversary, we can think of no better place to celebrate than the Black Cultural Centre, to remember our beginnings and look to a bright future for Nova Scotian artists.
